Hello world!

I believe in doing what you love. For me, that’s taking an idea from concept, to design, to reality. It’s incredibly rewarding to design and build and it’s even more wonderful to see your designs worn by others.

I finally decided to pursue my own dreams of making. Below is the journey that gave me the inspiration, skills, and experience to bring Welded Waves to you today:

The journey

2015 - Statement Making

Statement Making Fashion Show begins a new tradition at University of North Carolina Charlotte, allowing learning and relationship building across previously separated academic departments. During the ideation and execution of this show, I realized for the first time that one day I would want to be a full-time maker myself.

2017 - Making for Community

The first community Makerspace in Charlotte, North Carolina is born at Discovery Place Science Museum. Creating this community allowed me to introduce both children and adults to the power of design and digital fabrication. On the side, starting Charlotte’s first Make + Mingle event allowed me to test the power of bringing people together through power tools :).

2019 - Making for Students

Opportunities to start and lead makerspaces at both Wheaton College and Boston College brought me from North Carolina to Massachusetts. During this time, my experience teaching college courses pushed me to present making in new and exciting ways to inspire students.

2023 - 🍁

A role at Dartmouth pulled me from Boston to Vermont. This career move gave me the bandwidth to launch Welded Waves, an opportunity to get back into community maker spaces, and inspiration for our handcrafted pieces.

Our Process
